Little Venice is the prettiest and most romantic spot in town. A unique combination of white stucco, greenery, and water, it boasts the finest early Victorian domestic architecture in London; a Who's Who of famous past and present residents (Freud, Browning, Edward Fox, David Ben-Gurion, Ruth Rendell, Mark Bolan, Joan Collins, Alan Turing and Annie Lennox to name but a few); and a jewel of a "village" street. And that's not to mention its canals. One of them – Regent's Canal – is sometimes described as the loveliest inland waterway in England. Part of the walk is along the canal towpath – which to this day is studded with fragments of evidence that bring the Age of Canals to life. Afterwards you can have lunch at a stylish canal-side café or near where the walk starts and ends, just outside the exit of Warwick Avenue Tube station which is on the Bakerloo line from both Paddington and Baker Street. We will meet there at 11am on Tuesday 12 September. The cost will be £7pp payable in advance.

Yes another visit to BMW’s Mini factory for those who missed out, 26 September.

So many people enjoyed the visits to the Mini factory held earlier in the year that we were asked to arrange another one for people who missed out, and so another visit is offered at 13.45pm on 26 September. The cost will be £15 per head, to be paid in advance, and there will be 15 places available. If these places are not all filled, we may have to increase the cost, since we have to pay a standard rate for a specially designated tour.

Please express your interest in good time as this repeat tour is bound to be popular. Clive Booth’s enthusiastic report on an earlier visit can be found at More information will be available nearer the time.
